Companion Caregiver Senior Helpers of New Haven Coast East Haven and surrounding New Haven County communities Help Seniors Stay Independent at Home For many older adults, remaining at home means maintaining comfort, dignity, familiar routines, and connection to the community they know. Senior Helpers of New Haven Coast is hiring compassionate and dependable Caregivers and Personal Care Assistants to provide trusted, non-medical support in clients’ homes. This is an opportunity to build meaningful relationships while helping seniors live each day with greater safety, confidence, and independence. You may help a client begin the day safely, prepare a favorite meal, attend an appointment, stay engaged through conversation, or simply feel less alone. Caregiver Responsibilities Services are based on each client’s individual care plan and may include:
  • Companionship and meaningful social interaction
  • Assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and personal hygiene
  • Support with walking, mobility, positioning, and transfers
  • Meal planning, preparation, and assistance with eating
  • Medication reminders
  • Light housekeeping, laundry, and linen changes
  • Errands and authorized transportation
  • Support for clients living with Alzheimer’s disease or other forms of dementia
  • Observation and timely reporting of changes in a client’s condition or needs
  • Accurate documentation of services and activities
  • Maintaining a safe and comfortable home environment
  • Following the client’s care plan and all company policies and procedures
Caregiver Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Genuine compassion for older adults
  • Dependable, patient, respectful, and attentive
  • Effective communication with clients, families, and team members
  • Ability to follow care plans and complete required documentation
  • Willingness to complete required training and skills assessments
  • Reliable transportation to and from assignments
  • Valid driver’s license and current automobile insurance when driving is required
  • Previous caregiving, home care, assisted living, nursing home, or related experience is preferred but not required for every assignment
  • CNA, HHA, PCA, or similar training is welcomed
Physical Requirements Caregivers must be able to perform the essential duties required by their assigned clients, with or without reasonable accommodation. Duties may include standing, walking, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, performing light housekeeping, and safely assisting clients with mobility and transfers.
